Sorry I have been AWOL but insanity reigns...

..and I am feeling pretty shite at the moment, well sometimes anyway. As you know, I have bipolar disorder and while I am not on a major low, I feel I have nothing to give and feel rather dull at the mo! I hope to be back when my extra dose of drugs kick in next week, either that or I will be trying some laughing gas!

My episodes always make me shop and in the present month I have acquired 4 pairs of leopard print boots, 2 pairs of leopard print shoes, 2 leopard print handbags, 14 pieces of leopard print clothing, 32 bottles of glitter nail varnish and 14 bottles of glossy nail polish! I think it is safe to say that I will mostly be wearing leopard print and glittery nails! Madness is not all bad ya know girls! ;-D

Please keep posting on your monthly makes as it cheers me up to see them!

Hope you feel better soon Annie.

Please how do you upload onto Flikr? I feel a bit left out....... I am not very computer literate and can manage what I do so far so I am still learning! Is there Step-by-step instructions anywhere?

I love you however you feel, Annie!
It is impossible to have too much leopard in a wardrobe, y'know! And glittery nails are always a hit! Now I want a fashion show!!!
And I STILL owe you dosh...do send me your address. Don't worry about sticking the bits in the post, we WILL catch up at some time!
Hope the new meds do their job but you know we will stick by you, even if you are not up to blogging.
Big hugs,

I am so sorry. We have family members who suffer the same so I can feel for you. The medication seems to take for ever to kick in doesn't it. Hope you can recover from your 'big spend up'. You can always shout at me, I don't mind. Take care of yourself.

Oh Annie, I hope you're feeling better soon. You clearly haven't lost your sense of humour though and are doing so much to de-stigmatise mental illness by being so open about your bi-polar (several incidences in my husband's family).

Incidentally, your leopard purchases sound like they'd make a good art installation - maybe have a word with Charles Saatchi...

Happy Valentines!

Aw hunny, you are never dull, but I do understand how you feel. Its funny because I have been feeling a bit flat of late myself, and now you mention it, i have also bought quite a few items. Some I need and some not so much. Food for thought. look forward to your return but when you are ready, not when you think you should.

My dear girl - I do hope your meds kick in very soon for you, I so understand... I always shop on a low too, not quite so stylishly admittedly!

This winter has been particularly bad and tonight I'm researcing SAD lamps, naturally I wait until winter is almost over before doing something so possibly sensible/useful!

Have you tried one? If not, and if I get one and it helps I'll let you know

Big squishy hugs xxxx

Dear Annie,
I hope you're feeling better soon. I am very familiar with those feelings too. Look after yourself and try and get outside in fresh air. I have found that very helpful as well as the drugs of course! xxx

I'm sorry you're experiencing a 'low', but please remember to tell yourself first thing in the morning: I have much to give. Repeat ten times :-)).
That's because you have a lot to give.

You are in a leopard-mood I noticed (yep, I'm very clever LOL), but couldn't you find leopard nailpolish?? :-))

Annie, although i have only just started following this i can tell that you are a caring and generous person. You seem to have a lot of friends on here and i would like to eventually count myself as one of them. I'm always dipping in and out throughout the day on my laptop, so if you ever need a scream or rant you know where to come. Keep taking the meds- i know they keep me sane!

I remember the 2 week wait once while meds kicked in and it seemed like an eternity (in my case, it probably did to everyone else as well!)

I'm sorry these are dull days for you; your wry humour is much missed ;)

32 glittery nail polishes and a wardrobe awash with fake leopardskin...heyho...could've been worse...could've been a DESIGNER BINGE!!

OMG I know exactly what you mean! If I am either at the top of the bipolar zig zag or going to the bottom, I shop!!! It is a feature that I did not spot till a few years ago. Unfortunately I didn't know about it in the 1990s and wasn't able to stop my house being repossessed by the bank cos I got so much debt and got into mortgage arrears :r

Nowadays I buy other people's arty stuff, craft and hobby stuff (always wanting to start a new project!!!) and reading material.

If you cut and paste this link it will lead you to a book on Amazon that's a workbook for people with bipolar with lots of clear info and worksheets to fill in that help you plot your ups and downs, help you predict them by spotting alarm bells etc. I found it very helpful if a bit involved to handle when down. But when you're on a more even keel, have a look and see what you think!

Be gentle on yourself-
love tea and cake,
Helena

Blah.. sorry you're having a rough time Annie and I hope the meds soon help you settle down again.

I saw FeltbyRae's suggestion about SAD lights. I do have problems with dark mornings/nights - in fact last winter I was a virtual zombie from mid-November, until about mid-March. I had some help from a homeopath, but she also suggested a SAD light, with a sunrise/wake-up feature. I bought a sunrise alarm light from Lumie and it's very good. It really helps me wake up in the morning (though staying that way can be a challenge - I have a bright desk light too!) - http://www.lumie.com/

I saw the comment about the worksheet info. I will pass that link on to a friend, who may find it helpful.

Hope you are soon feeling better - and meanwhile enjoy the fancy new gear!

Bit late in the day but it really struck a cord with me, having lived with a bipolar partner for eight years. Darling if leopard and sparklies is as bad as the shopping goes you are ok. He once spent 10k in a day! It is a tough one but it also makes you ever so special. Xxx
