is baking as I type! Now I am no Domestic Goddess, in fact I am a bit of a slut if you ignore my tendency to clean my whole bathroom using a toothbrush, but sometimes needs must!
I am baking six, yes six Earl Grey Tea Loaves. My lovely daughter Amy is hosting her Blighty Boutique Vintage & Handmade Fair at Hatton Park in Warwick on Sunday 4th March - a week today and I am baking for the Vintage Style Tea Room. If you have nothing on for this date then it is well worth a visit. The fair attracts over 800 visitors and has a handy fenced in playground to the rear - ideal for dads and kids to busy themselves while ladies do what they do best and chat and shop! We are half a mile off J15 of the M40.
My next bake will be my Lemon Drizzle Cakes which even I have to admit are pretty delish - or as we said as kids 'yum yum pigs bum'! My lovely Aunty Val will be baking the Victoria Sponges and Scones! I am slightly concerned that I have given myself the task of baking 8 Triple Chocolate Cakes!
We will also have a cake sale were 100% of takings will you to our charity of the year The Military Patients Fund - this is based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. Anyone visiting the hospital cannot fail to see the disproportionately high number of very young men without limbs, mainly legs; this is generally the result of their tour of duty in Afghanistan. We will also be donating a percentage of the profits from the tea room to this worthy cause. This fund give the lads (and any ladies) on the military ward access to funds for treats as well as everyday items and so it a very 'at roots' charity.
Perfect!

Oh shit! Just got the cakes out and one is a bit burned on top! I have a fan assisted oven and had not done the calculations! Will use the burned one to taste and the check quality of the cake as it is only the top that is burned! If you see fire engines heading my way then never fear it is just me!
Burnt but tasty!
Perfect!
Just popped 3 for in with adjustments for a fan assisted oven!

Hi Annie! You are amazing! I haven't made ONE cake, let alone 9!!! Good luck!
I'd love to come to this if alas it weren't so far away!
I made another monthly make recently, my Valentines card! I must try baking as one of mine- that'll definitely take me outside my comfort zone!
You can always cop the top off and use that one for 'cake crumbs' for another recipe. Or just send it my way!
I've just finished my monthly make too, although it's a bit of cheat - more like a monthly paint and upcycle!
***Faith Hope and Charity Shopping first blogiversary giveaway open now***
Well you have got to try it haven't you - warm with butter!
Good luck with the fair next week.

The cakes sound delicious....hope the fair goes well.
Erh huh what about the diet? Says she sitting here having just demolished two snack size mars bars! Am bored witless sitting here listing stuff on etsy but has to be done.
Good luck with the fair
Big hugs
Pene
I live in leamington spa and have never heard of this! It's on my calender and I'll look out for your cakes.
Lemon drizzle cake (double yum). Have a great time at the fair and what a good cause :) xx
Lovely cakes I can almost smell them and an epic make for February. I've just added mine to Flicker and my blog.
Wow- what a lot of baking, and for what a good cause!
Hope the fair goes well, at least everyone will be well fed!!
They sound lovely i have a fan assisted oven to i have only had a few months and Oh boy it really does cook quickly i have had to adjust all my timings to. Good luck and enjoy the fair. dee x
Hi Annie, I've just uploaded some cakes onto Flickr as my Monthly Makes too! Wish I didn't live so far away I'd love to come and support your daughter at the Fair. I wouldn't worry about the slightly browner than average tops - a marmalade glaze would cover it up!
Wow you've really surpassed yourself with your Feb. make. I'm sitting trying to decide what to make...... I tend to go for long term projects so it's always fun to make something over a day or 2. I might check out my Pintrest pages for ideas I've saved. I'd so love to come to the vintage fair but it's a bit far from Oz. I look forward to seeing pics on your blog soon. :-)
There's nothing like sampling the home made goodies, great job I'm sure that your efforts are appreciated.
Wow, you have been a very busy lady. The cakes look delicious, even the burned one. Make sure your lovely doggies don't get there paws on them.
Good luck at the fair.
Barrina xx
Brilliant make for February. Hope the Fair goes well! ... :0)
yum yum yum!
I am always fighting my fan assisted oven. I have had it 14 years and I still can't quite get it right. When I move I'm going back to gas!! Well done on all your baking. The cakes look really yummy. You could cut top off burned ones and cut the remaining part into single portions.
Lemon drizzle my favourite! yum yum pigs bum made me laugh - we say yum yum cats bum whenever the boys put food onto the table without a plate (because the cat sits on the table).
Taste testing! Thats a good en! Fabulous cause though, I know two fiends with sons in Afghanistan.
Yumm - a tasty make!

They look lovely - lemon drizzle is always a winner. My February Monthly make was a cake - have just added photos to Flickr :o)
Just cut myself a virtual slice and its yummy. Hugs Mrs A.
My Monthly Make is up. Thanks Annie for the motivation!!!

My March make is already planned. :-)
Yay! So glad to see you blogging again - we missed you.
Those cakes sound/look totally yummy (could you share the recipe for the Earl Grey Tea Loaf some time?).
Hope Amy's event is a big success, I'm sure it will be.
Jumbleberries xx
Annie, I have posted my monthly make for feb on my blog http://sutleress.blogspot.com. I've included you link, i still can't get the button to show on the individual post! But its up there and worked when i tested it.
I also can't figure out how to get my posts onto my relevant pages. Not doing very well. Oh well, started on my monthly make for March, hopefully more than one if i get time.
I have never tasted earl grey cake! It looks yummy and sounds... interesting. I might have to give it a go :)
I finally got round to both finishing and posting my february make, hurrah! (Much like Lakota though it's a tiny bit of a cheat...)
Yum...wish I could pop over to England for morning tea! Earl Grey is my tea of choice at the moment so I'll have to find a recipe for Earl Grey cakes as they sound & look delicious!
"Yum, yum pig's bum" must have been a universal saying & of our age group (1965 vintage)...that was one of my favourite sayings as a kid here in Aus although we did get in trouble for saying 'bum' back then :-)
