I have to admit that somethings are a bit naff but on the whole there are fantastic bargains to be found. One of the greatest things I find about it is that it appeals to the shopaholic in me without really denting the purse!!
They have a lot of Neutragena. Hand creams, tinted mousturiser etc.
The often have Revlon Nail Varnishes that sell in Boots at around a fiver!
This is my favourite find, Prices Candles - they had 3 different types - these retail at around £5 too!
I bought this egg timer from Lakeland for £4 only to find an identical one in Poundland. Sometimes though when you show family what you have bought, they keep asking 'how much was that then?, oh thats good, and how much was the other item?'' A POUND, IT WAS A POUND - THE CLUE IS IN THE NAME MOTHER!! LOL!! It makes me chuckle!! What bargains have you bought??

I'm certainly not too posh but sadly we don't have one!

I'm not too posh for Poundland or any of the other bargain stores We have here in Barnsley.
Poundland almost always turns up a few surprises and I end up spending loads in there!!
Em xxxxxxxx
Yeap I admit it I go to poundland too. It doesn't matter what you go in for you always come out with a few extras. I buy hair dye in there, used to go to the hairdressers every six weeks £50 a go to get my "roots" done! Now I do it myself at home once a month and it costs me £12 A YEAR!! I agree some of it is cheap rubbish but they tend to get end of lines and stuff so you can often get quality items at just £1.........

i cannot get my heavenly strawberry ruffle choc's anywhere else! and when i did see them in tesco or somehwere like that they were triple the pricey!, so yes i do love a good pound shop...only problem i find is you have to get in their early before the chav rush! hehehehe ;0)...and like you they are quite often label names on products, so its not scrape the barrell stuff is it...also sophia's art stuff i buy in there too ;0) cheap n cheerful treats x
I love a bargain and often pop into the 99p stores or Poundland - I espically like them in the States becuase there they are 99 cents stores!!! BARGAIN
Debbie
OMG your poundland is WAY better than our $2 shop aka Chinese land fill shop!
No, definitely not too posh! I often get stuff from pound shops, Poundstretcher, B + M, etc. Some good bargains amongst the dross!
Oh it's good! Mine had a good range of weight watchers foods, and it's also great for things for the garden - packs of bulbs and seeds etc :-)
Hi Annie,
We don't have a pondland, but we do have Home bargains and B & M Bargains which are great, you just have to have the right frame of mind to find the good stuff I think....
Never!! I love a bit of Poundland. It reminds me of shopping with my gran in Wales, she loved a bargain.
When I moved here, there was no Poundland...and I had to wait about 20 years before one arrived and now it's the busiest shop in town. I like finding the quirky things like storage tins, coloured baskets and whatnot that are usually three times the price in those boutique type homeware shops.
I filled my garden with spring bulbs I bought there and they're all good...not a duff one there!

Im so with you, can't beat Poundland x
Poundland in Stratford makes me a little sad though as it was such a fab Woolies :( Oh! The picture has made me feel a little homesick!
I LOVE Poundland!!!!!!
There is an award waiting for you over at my blog
xx
Im not too posh for poundland...if it's a bargain and I like it I don't care where it comes from (as long as it did not fall off the back of a lorry). We also have a shop called QD's and they have lovely cheap bits, but we don't have those Home & Bargains stores that everyone else seems to have.
My best poundland buys have to be books. Really nice hardback books, all diffrent ones. My best QD's buy were the discontinued Emma Bridgewater storage jars with hearts on for £2.50 each.
By the way thank you for the pattern of Stanley xxx
I love Poundland as well...lots of bargains to be had....latest one was a L'Oreal mousse that sells for about £7 in Boots.
Would love those candles....they don't seem to have them in my branch.
Hi Annie, Like you I just love a bargain. I love the 99p shops too, I love them even better in the States where they are the 99cent shop BARGAIN!!!!
Debbie
No I have been in Poundland.
I find some of the people in those types of shops leave a lot to be desired though if you know what I mean!
I don't go in there often as there is not one near me but I have been in Wilkinson which is similar.
Its good when you can get the same things as in Boots but at a fraction of the price!
Talk about being too posh for poundland, where everything is only £1, (my mother asks that too!!) you'd be daft not to. I get all my doggie chews and fat balls for the birds, much cheaper than the pet shop, all my pens, pencils and glue etc Lucey xx
Yes we have two, Crawley and Redhill and they both stock different lines. I got lovely huge orange sky lanterns at halloween a pound each and kept some for New Year - they retail much more elsewhere, yes they have some tack but as you have found, there is treasure to be discovered, I check twice a week.
I believe one has just opened up locally and I plan to pay a visit. We used to have a version of it years ago but they closed down. xx
Love them. I like you can get yummy cheese from the 99p shop.
I LOVE Poundland! I absolutely love a bargain, yes sometimes theres tat but as you point out it has the same as others stores just cheaper! :) x
we don't have one here- I guess THEY think WE'RE too posh for poundland!
Wish we did...
xx
Home and Bargain all the way! (only cos there isn't a Poundland that close to me) Yes, you do have to wade through some tat but some of the stuff is brill and SO cheap. We always stock up on Baxters soup and fizzy pop as it's way cheaper than any of the supermarkets.
I love poundland! I got all my silicon baking stuff in there.
I have to travel a bit but there is a 99p shop as well. I bought Revlon last week and my daughter has the Emma Bridgewater tins, one of my best buys was The second Goddess Guide rrp about £12.
If you don't mind waiting lots of ends of lines seem to end up there.

I love Poundland and the 99p Stores, too.
eBay packing supplies, retro sweets, organic skincare, false eyelashes, books, socks....the list is endless. xxx
I love poundland...choc dips, hair stuff, cleaning products, an arry of bin liners, bird food and pretty gardening gloves x
Hi Mum, have a look at this lovely lady's blog. She's doing a blog charity raffle. We've been swapping emails and are thinking of doing soem sort of joint fundraising thing. Her blog's lovely too. Happy designed it xxx http://diaryofatinyholder.blogspot.com/
There's a shop near me called 'everything's a pound' and all over there are signs saying '*yes* everything really is a pound!' they must get asked a lot... but there are some real bargains ;)
ps I just read yor post about the incident with the motercyclist and caught myself saying 'brilliant' out loud. My sister is a wheelchair user and we get really angry at people abusing disabled spaces and being rude but I"m always too chicken to say anything, I love what you did! Genius.
Not at all! I got some of my usually expensive trevor sorbie hair curl cream in poundland before xmas - 3 for £1!!!(I cleared the shelves). You do have to be selective mind, but if they have something I want, I have no shame! :) xx
No I am not too posh for pound land ! I get gorgeous mugs there, I get fabby craft stash there; I get shampoos and twilight chocolates there and lots of them. Only trouble is you go in only wanting to spend a few pounds and end up spending about 20!

We don't have poundland here in the states but we do have dollar tree and .99 stores I'm guess they are about the same as your poundland. We can always find something there.
Holly
So interesting, I'm certainly not too posh but I'm always suspicious that I'll get lured into spending more on something that I get cheaper elsewhere, does that make me sounds mad?
Too Posh for Poundland? Am I 'eck!
No, I like Poundland, it's great. We've had various great bargains from there over the last few years. Toys & games, sweets and biscuits, garden stuff - large garden planting tub for £1 - my mum was thrilled!
They used to sell strips of ready-made card embellishments. There were 3 sheets to a pack (all connected underneath each other). The same thing was being sold by the single sheet elsewhere, for about 4-5 times the money!
No, I'm not too posh for a good bargain! Three Cheers for Poundland!
I love the place - have found some great items in there for the house and garden. MrVV & the boys love it too. Of course there's always the chance that one of them will ask 'how much is that' and I get the chance to be superior for once ;)
We have a 99p shop near us
But it doesn't sell things nearly as good as yours!
I was so excited when it opened
I dragged my boyfriend around for ages pointing things out saying "Do you know how much that is in Sainsburys"
I love a bargain!
I have just found your lovely blog and I must say I am really enjoying having a read through :-)
thanks so much for visiting and buying tickets. I like poundland too obviously some of it is junk, but you get occasional bargain. i love wilkos the best! x
Most certainly not. Get our black bin bags and garden sacks from there. Not too posh to go to Primark either. Yes there's toot yes there's trash but there are also incredible bargains to be had.
Hello Annie. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog. Whilst you and I both know that Bertie would probably have a wonderful time with your doglets, he wonders if he might take a raincheck!!! He's actually a big chocolate wuss!
I'm afraid I am a little too posh for Poundland, can't help it! My Mum has been trying to drag me through the doors for years and failed miserably.
Special mention of the anniversary of your darling boy xxx

aw you have to love poundland! great for kids organix snacks, they are at least double the price in the supermarkets. i was actually in on fri and got 3 bags of kids raisins...i got carried away with them only bein £1! lol i also did a halloween party for the kids this past oct, fab decorations from there! honestly as sad as it may seem i can not rave about that shop enough, whateva i have gone for im never dispointed, the only trouble with the one close to us is it can be SO busy it often resembles a jumble sale so i have to plan a visit carefully! ;) xx
We have a poundland and also 99p shop! There are some great bargains to be had, I've bought some lovely plants for the garden in previous years and they have all grown.
I love poundshops! I'm a regular in them :)
I passed on the "Stylish Blogger Award" to you over on my Blog http://deerlittlefawn.blogspot.com/2011/01/stylish-blogger-award.html
I work in Wellingborough, Northants which seems to have a plethora of these shops. We have Family Bargains, (formerly titled the 99p store), Home Bargains, QD Stores, (where the Woolworths used to be) and another cheap shop near the market. My favourite of all of the cheap shops has got to be Wilkinsons which is sometimes cheaper than the pound shops by a few pence. Shame I cannot just spend £1 in these places - everything seems such a bargain, I have to buy things!
